What are ABA Services?

ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) therapy is an individualized approach to helping children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other behavioral disabilities develop the behaviors and skills they need to thrive. Each child is carefully evaluated to support the creation of a unique treatment plan that will guide them on their journey. As the therapy progresses, our team of behavior analysts will modify the treatment methods as new abilities and skills develop, eventually leading to a more independent, capable, and confident child.

Techniques Developed Through Proven Results

The team at IABS has spent years developing a model for therapy that drives results and truly helps each child we see grow. Through research and delivering actual in-home ABA therapy, we confidently approach each plan we develop with an understanding generated from years of experience. With a combination of positive reinforcement, natural environment training, discrete trial training, and more, our techniques are custom modeled for each individual we work with and their families.

ABA Services Developed with the Family in Mind

Our techniques and team greatly focus on creating a collaborative effort with the entire family. From our initial assessments where we evaluate the child as an individual and interview you, the parents, we take great care in making sure our therapy services are inclusive to the entire familial unit. We do this not only as a means to create an environment of comfort for the children we see, but to make sure the family as a whole is informed and involved in the growth and development of their child.

The IABS Process

Just like every child is unique, we believe that every treatment approach should be uniquely individualized to ensure the best possible outcomes. Our team will work closely with you and your child to develop a therapy plan that meets your individual needs.
Gone are the days of waiting months to access ABA therapy for your child. IABS operates on a “no waitlist” model, which means as soon as you submit an inquiry, our team is prepared to begin working with you. We will get your child enrolled and your family in touch with a Board-Certified Behaviour Analyst as soon as possible.
The next step is to have your dedicated Board-Certified Behaviour Analyst conduct an initial assessment of your child’s current needs. Whether done in-person at your home or virtually, this assessment typically involves interviews with the child and parents, as well as observation of the child’s behaviors. Your BCBA will take time to evaluate your child as they normally interact in their day-to-day environment. This is a great way to determine not only where your child may need support, but also what strengths they already display that can be encouraged within the ABA therapy process.

After your child’s assessment is complete, your BCBA will take their findings and formulate a unique treatment plan. The components of an ABA therapy plan may include:

  • Assessment Summary: A summary of the assessments conducted, detailing the individual’s strengths, challenges, preferences, and areas requiring intervention.
  • Measurable Goals: Clear, measurable, and achievable goals related to behavior, communication, social skills, and daily living activities. Goals are often broken down into smaller, achievable targets.
  • Target Behaviors: Identification and description of specific behaviors targeted for modification or improvement, along with a functional analysis to understand the purpose or function of these behaviors.
  • Behavioral Strategies: Evidence-based behavioral strategies and techniques to address target behaviors, including reinforcement methods (positive reinforcement), prompting procedures, and fading strategies.
  • Data Collection Procedures: Protocols for collecting data on targeted behaviors to objectively measure progress and make informed adjustments to the intervention plan.
  • Session Structure: A description of the structure and format of therapy sessions, including the duration, frequency, and specific activities planned during each session.
  • Communication and Social Skills Training: Plans for improving communication and social skills, which may include specific interventions for language development, joint attention, and peer interactions.
  • Generalization Strategies: Methods to facilitate the generalization of learned skills across different settings, individuals, and situations to promote long-term success.
  • Collaboration with Family: Strategies for involving and training family members to support and reinforce therapeutic interventions at home, fostering consistency and generalization of skills.
  • Review and Adjustments: Regular review processes to assess progress, identify challenges, and make necessary adjustments to the therapy plan based on ongoing assessments and feedback.

Our ABA therapy plans are highly individualized, reflecting the unique needs and characteristics of the person receiving therapy. Regular collaboration and communication between the registered behavior technician, the individual, and their family are essential for the plan’s effectiveness and success.

Our 1:1 ABA Therapy is crafted with a focus on individualized excellence, recognizing the unique needs and strengths of each child. In these personalized sessions, our experienced Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) utilize evidence-based strategies to address specific goals, whether they involve communication, social skills, or daily living activities. The 1:1 setting allows for a deep understanding of your child’s behavior, facilitating precise and effective interventions. The therapy services your child receives will vary based on the assessment phase of our process, but can include services such as Discrete trial training (DTT) or Natural Environmental Training (NET). Each therapy plan is executed within your home either in-person or virtually. We prioritize a collaborative approach, involving families in the therapy process to ensure consistency and generalize learned behaviors beyond the therapy sessions. At IABS, our commitment to providing compassionate, high-quality 1:1 ABA Therapy is at the core of our mission, empowering individuals with the tools they need for a brighter and more independent future.
